Assistant Professor in the current modern/contemporary history of Central and Eastern Europe for the Department of Russian and East European Studies

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University is looking for an Assistant Professor in the current modern/contemporary history of Central and Eastern Europe for the Department of Russian and East European Studies at the Institute of International Studies.

 

Job description:

  • conducting lectures and seminars
  • own scientific and research activity
  • involvement in the scientific work of IIS, including participation in the research center
  • serving on committees
  • supervising students and assessing students work

 

We require:

  • higher education in one of the fields: modern and contemporary history, history, area studies, political science, international relations
  • university degree with M.Sc. or higher
  • currently ongoing doctoral studies
  • experience with project and grant activities
  • excellent knowledge of the English, German and Hungarian in spoken and written form
  • knowledge of Slovak and Polish is an advantage (verification by certificate, other form or in the selection procedure) 
  • knowledge of the region (documentation of a trip to the region)
  • knowledge of Czech at a professional communication level

 

We offer:

  • workload of 0.5 (20 hours per week) 
  • expected entry for a fixed term from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2027
  • salary approx.  CZK 17.000 brutto
