  1. This provision governs the conditions for the payment of scholarships to support the studies of international students in the Bachelor's degree program – Bachelor in Economics and Finance (BEF) and follow-up Master’s degree programs – Balkan, Eurasian and Central European Studies (BECES), Central European Comparative Studies (CECS), Corporate Strategy and Finance in Europe (CSF), International Economic and Political Studies (IEPS), Master in Economics and Finance (MEF), Public and Social Policy (PSP), Sociology in European Context (SEC), Master in International Security Studies (MISS), Master in Area Studies (MAS), International Masters in Economy, State and Society (IMESS), European Politics and Society (EPS) and Master in International Relations (MAIN) in the academic year of 2017/2018 (hereinafter referred to only as “scholarship”). The source of the scholarship payment is the grant from the development programs of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MŠMT) for the project of International Cooperation within the Institutional Development plan of the faculty.
  2. Students admitted to study these programs from developing countries and countries undergoing a process of social and economic transformation may apply for the scholarship.
  3. Students applying for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:
  • Above-average interest in the studies expressed in an essay that will be part of a scholarship application;
  • Above-average study results as documented in the application form;
  • The financial situation that does not allow tuition and living costs to be covered by own resources (documented by the recommendation of at least two professors from previous studies).
  1. The scholarship is intended to cover study costs during the winter semester. These costs are the cost of the study fee (tuition fee) and contribution to cover the living costs. The amount and scheduling of the scholarship are determined by a separate decision of the Dean.
  2. The scholarship will be paid once per academic year, not later than one month after enrolment in the winter semester and after payment of the due study fee for the summer semester. Payment of the fee for the summer semester is a prerequisite for enrolment in the winter semester.
  3. Bill for the allowance for the living costs will not be requested from the students.
  4. If a student terminates his/her studies in the summer semester or he/she will be excluded from the studies for a violation of the Study and Examination Regulations of Charles University, he/she is not entitled to a refund of the paid fee for his/her studies in the summer semester. These funds will be returned to the MŠMT as an unused scholarship.
  5. Applicants apply for a scholarship using the form available on the faculty's website.
  6. The committee, which proposes to the Dean the candidates for the scholarship, consists of Vice-dean for International Relations (chair of the committee) and Head of the International Office.
  7. Students of the above programs who are already studying in their first or second year with the support of these scholarships may apply for a scholarship also for the next year of studies. The conditions for inclusion of these students in the selection proceedings are as follows:
  • properly completed application form;
  • a statement from at least one teacher at FSV (the guarantor of the study programme, the head of the bachelor´s/master´s thesis, the lecturer of the compulsory subject) evaluating the student’s studies at Charles University; a letter may be submitted in Czech or English.

Students do not need to submit an essay justifying their interest in the studies or the recommendations of two professors from earlier studies.

  1. To offer the scholarship program in the second and third year of studies is conditioned by the provision of financial support from the grant of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic within the framework of the Development Program in the following years.
  2. For the third year of studies (master's degree programs) and the fourth year of studies (bachelor's degree program), the scholarship will not be provided.
  3. The provision hereby annuls Dean’s Provision no. 16/2014 the Conditions for the payment of scholarship to support the studies of foreign students in paid Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.
