LIBRARIES AT FSV UK
FSV UK has two libraries of its own:
- The Central Library Jinonice (U Kříže 8, Prague 5) serves as a methodology centre for scientific information as well as a library for the fields of sociology, political science, international relations and area studies, history, journalism, media studies, and marketing, but it has a large offer of books generally related to social sciences.
- Opletalova Library (Opletalova 26, Prague 1) specializes in economic literature.

HOW TO LOG INTO THE FACULTY COMPUTERS?
Each exchange student is sent a login name and password by email before their departure on-site into CAS (Central Authentication Service). You are required to change the given password within 5 days (instructions here).
The initial password does not allow access to applications but it enables you to set your own password with which you can then access all the applications used in CAS.
There are two types of login: a name login (sequence of letters and number(s)) and a numerical login (printed on your student ID right under your photograph).

OTHER LIBRARIES AND STUDY PLACES IN PRAGUE
Apart from Charles University libraries, you may use public municipal libraries (List and map of public libraries). You will need to make a new reader´s card there, but the cost is minimal. Some of them have nice, comfortable study spaces, including mediatheques and, contrary to university libraries, SOME ARE OPEN ON SATURDAYS!
The National Library (in the city centre, near the Old Town and Charles Bridge) is also open to anyone. You will need to register there for a small fee. The general reading (study) room is open from 9 am till 10 pm every working day, on Saturday from 9 am till 7 pm. You can also borrow a reader for electronic books there!
The National Technical Library is open to the public almost 24/7. It has several reading (study) rooms, including an after-hours study room (but usually packed).
The final recommendation is a special café CAFEDU near the metro and tram station/stop Muzeum. It is open almost 24/7 and has several special rooms, including a team and a silent study room. Book them in advance!
ACADEMIC WRITING
Writefull is a tool for academic writing that provides advanced proofreading in English. It is designed for all researchers and students who write and publish scientific texts in English, although they are non-native speakers.
Writefull uses artificial intelligence, particularly deep learning algorithms and an extensive language database. It controls texts via language models resulting from millions of scientific texts already published. Writefull offers the correction of vocabulary, grammar, style, punctuation, and spelling.
CITATION GUIDE
Knowing the rules of working with bibliographic data when writing a professional text is an integral part of information literacy in the university environment. The FSV UK Library has created these pages for students and researchers.
Writing point
Writing Point is a meeting point and resource for FSV UK faculty and researchers who wish to write academic texts in English.
