SEARCH FOR COURSES before or during the application process
Student Information System (SIS) It is a portal where you can search for courses without having an account. Once you are registered as our student, you will enrol in the courses, or register for the exams. You will also find your exam results here.
To search for a particular course, go to the module "Subjects" and filter by the faculty filter (Faculty of Social Sciences), language (e.g., English), and by class: courses for incoming students. You can also apply the semester filter to see if courses are available in winter, summer, or in both semesters.
Please note we do not guarantee acceptance into all selected classes due to course capacity, scheduling clashes, or any unforeseen changes in class availability.

ADD/DROP COURSES at the beginning of the semester
The ADD/DROP period applies only to the courses provided by the CU Faculty of Social Sciences. Conditions for additional course de/registration at other CU faculties might differ greatly. Please always pay attention to the end dates of the course registration period either here or contact the Erasmus+ coordinator at the given faculty.
Friendly reminder: A student can request additional deregistration of the course only if they haven't started fulfilling any assignment.
Please try to drop all the courses you know you will not be attending or do not plan to take the exam for. All enrolled courses will appear in your final Transcript of Records. You will also give your fellow exchange students a chance to additionally enrol in the course by the deadline. Thank you for being considerate!

FAQ on courses
If you have any doubts or questions regarding courses, we recommend having a look at the FAQs below.
-
May I enrol in courses at other CU faculties apart from my host faculty (i.e., CU Faculty of Social Sciences)?
According to the rules of Charles University, Erasmus students must take at least 51 % of their courses (or earn the same percentage of credits) at the CU faculty to which they were nominated (i.e., their host faculty at Charles University). The remaining courses (up to 49 %) can be chosen from other CU faculties.
Please note that each CU faculty may have different rules and dates of the course registration. We recommend checking the availability of the courses for incoming students with the respective faculty coordinator.
IMPORTANT for students nominated under the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility: Erasmus+ ICM students must take at least 51 % of their courses (or earn the same percentage of credits) at the institute to which they were nominated.
-
How many credits do I need to obtain in order to pass the semester?
Based on the requirements of your home university. If you don't know, please check with your home university.
As for the CU Faculty of Social Sciences, the allowed ECTS limits are the following:
- minimum of 20 ECTS for bachelor students per semester,
- minimum of 15 ECTS for master students per semester,
- maximum of 32 ECTS for both bachelor and master students per semester.
Should you be requested to take more ECTS by your home university, please contact your IO coordinator at FSV UK.
-
Is it possible to change some courses at the beginning of the semester?
Changing your course selection is not a major problem as long as you respect the deadlines. You will have enough time during the so-called add/drop period (more info in the section below) to decide whether you like the course and whether you will be able to follow it.
Erasmus+ students: We are happy to sign a revised Learning Agreement (so-called LA changes) for you, though please remember you must also talk to your home university to make sure they agree with any changes you make.
-
Can I take a sports course as an exchange student?
Yes, you can! As with all courses, the available spots are limited.
Exchange students can enrol in ONE sports course per semester.
Sports courses are provided by the CU Faculty of Arts, namely by their Department of Physical Education. The courses can be found in SIS by using filters faculty and department. Most of the courses are in Czech; however, it is usually not a problem. You can contact the teacher of the course to double-check whether exchange students can enrol in their course. You can also apply the language filter and select English to browse the English-taught sports courses. The main Charles University Sports Centre can be found in Hostivař.
IMPORTANT for Erasmus+ students: The sports course must be noted in your Learning Agreement, and thus be approved by your home university.
-
Can I enrol in master level courses when I am only a bachelor level student?
Exchange students can enrol in both bachelor's and master's courses regardless of their academic level.
However, the list of the chosen subjects has to be selected carefully and approved by the student’s home university.
We strongly recommend reading the requirements of the course to be able to successfully finish the selected class. You will have enough time during the registration period (the so-called add/drop period) to decide whether you like the class and whether you will be able to manage it.
Please note that due to capacity reasons, master students may be given priority in the course registration.
