The professional development of academicians - associate professors and full professors - is one of the faculty priorities aiming to ensure the continuity of the special character and high standard of individual Institutes. In compliance with the requirements of the Czech university system, academic staff enhance their qualifications in habilitation or professor degree proceedings.

Habilitation procedure
Required documents for initiating the habilitation procedure:
- All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form, signed by the applicant either by hand or electronically, and dated with the current date of issue (with the exception of diplomas and the habilitation thesis).
- Documents (with the exception of diplomas, the habilitation thesis, confirmations of employment, or attestations) are submitted in both Czech and English, due to the required participation of international members in the habilitation commission. For applicants from outside the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the documents submitted may be in English only.
- The habilitation thesis is submitted in three bound hard copies and electronically in PDF/A format.

Application to initiate the habilitation procedure where the applicant states the full title of the accredited field for the habilitation procedure, the faculty where the procedure is to be initiated, the title of the submitted habilitation thesis, and any other relevant information. |

Habilitation thesis The applicant will submit 3 copies of the habilitation thesis, which may take the form of a written work presenting original scientific findings, a published monograph containing new scientific insights, or a commented set of the applicant’s published scientific works. |

Officially certified copies of the diploma The applicant will submit certified copies of diplomas confirming the completion of master’s and doctoral studies at a university (typically Mgr., title from the rigorosum procedure, and Ph.D.), ideally in A4 format. Documents related to studies and the awarding of academic degrees at Charles University, as specified in this section, may be submitted by Charles University employees as copies without notarization. |

Structured CV a) includes an overview of their study, with the title of the master’s, rigorosum, and dissertation thesis, with the names of the thesis supervisors or advisors and their affiliations, b) includes an overview of previous employment and relevant professional experience, attestations, stays abroad, etc. c) includes an overview of their academic activities to date in both pedagogical and research (creative) fields, d) includes other information that the applicant considers important for the fulfilment of the specified recommended criteria for the habilitation procedure at Charles University and the respective faculty. |

Full record of pedagogical activities The applicant will provide an overview of their pedagogical activities for at least the past three years + the current academic year, including supervised, consulted, and reviewed bachelor’s, master’s, rigorosum, or dissertation theses. The actual hours taught must be reported. Previous pedagogical experience may also be included to give the overall context of the applicant's previous pedagogical placement. Applicants who have been on maternity or parental leave or on a long-term stay abroad may submit a record of pedagogical activity for a longer period so that the period of pedagogical activity assessed is similar to the continuous three-year period of pedagogical activity referred to above. The record should be confirmed by the institution where the pedagogical activity took place (for FSV UK employees, this is the signature of the director of the respective institute). |

A commented overview of pedagogical activities to date The applicant will focus primarily on reflecting the quality of their teaching and also describe how they have contributed to the development of their field through their pedagogical work. They should specify which pedagogical methods they employ and whether they have introduced any innovative elements into their classes, or new lectures, courses, or subjects. |

Structured overview of publication activity and indication of personal ORCID number Publications will be divided by category: J - peer-reviewed professional article, divided into three subcategories (Jimp, Jsco, Jost), including the IF and AIS. Additionally, the author will indicate the decile/quartile according to the WoS and the subject classification, B - professional book, C - chapter in a professional book, D - paper in proceedings (DWoS, DScopus).
The list of publications may also include other publications that will not be the subject of detailed evaluation by the commission but are important for the overall profile of the applicant's scientific and pedagogical persona. For publications with multiple authors, the applicant will specify their individual authorship share (expressed as a percentage) and may briefly comment on their contribution to the given publication or group of publications. Additionally, for co-authored publications, the applicant will indicate whether they are the primary author or the corresponding author. |

A commented selection of the five most important (most significant) publications The applicant will state the contribution of each publication to the field. For co-authored publications, the applicant will indicate their percentage share of authorship and provide a verbal commentary on their role. |

Citations of works according to the methodology of the Web of Science, or Scopus, Google Scholar, and others Citations according to WoS must always be provided. The applicant may supplement WoS citation data with figures from other databases commonly used in the respective field (e.g., Scopus, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, etc.). In social sciences and humanities, applicants may additionally include lists of citations and reviews of their works based on their own research. The applicant will generate a citation count report from the WoS database using the Create Citation Report function. The report must be submitted by the applicant in its complete version, including the line graph. |

Documents for the assessment of international experience The applicant will provide an overview of international scientific professional stays, including the name of the host institution, duration, and outcomes, as well as participation in international conferences, with emphasis on invited lectures. |

Documents for the evaluation of the results of creative activities - projects and grants The applicant will provide an overview of externally funded scientific projects and grants and also grants and institutional support projects with an indication of the role (principal investigator, co-investigator = principal investigator of the co-investigating organisation team, member of the investigating team = participation in research), and a listing and evaluation of the results. |

Confirmation of employment and professional experience, attestations, etc. Confirmation from FSV UK will be arranged by the Research Office. For other workplaces where the applicant holds employment relations, confirmation must be obtained from the respective department of that workplace. |

Appointment procedure
Part 1 - at the Faculty - course: starting at the Scientific Council of Faculty of Social Sciences, getting ready the standpoint by the evaluation committee, professorial lecture before the Scientific Council of Faculty of Social Sciences.
Part 2 - at the rectorate - course: to be discussed by the College Rector, professorial lecture before the Scientific Council of Charles University in Prague.

Original letters of recommendation in English from two professors in the same or a related field, preferably from a renowned foreign university. Additional letters of recommendation from distinguished, internationally recognised experts in the field of the appointment procedure may be submitted. The letters of recommendation will assess the applicant's scientific activity to date and their contribution to the field of the appointment procedure. Letters must be signed and dated. |
