Research

FSV UK fully supports the socio-scientific research. The Faculty integrates and co-ordinates the research plan it has acquired with several departments of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Within this framework, FSV UK has made a commitment to provide the professional public with a critical and scientifically-based reflection on the development of Czech society from a long-term perspective.

Life at Faculty

Student life is not only studying at a library or your dorm and attending lectures and seminars! There is a whole bunch of stuff students do together in their free time - social, cultural, political or sport events, trips, parties...and much more! FSV UK Student Ombudspeople

The Student Ombudsperson is the protector of the rights of students of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. They ensure and assist in the effective and faster resolution of various problems that students may encounter during their life at the faculty. At a lower level, this may involve communication noise and misunderstandings, for example, related to the setting and evaluation of subjects. At the same time, Student Ombudspeople resolve problems related to the issue of ethical, decent and transparent communication, systemic and perceived (in)justice and invoking rights within the framework of studies and activities within the academic community. This is one of the supporting bodies that complements the existing structure at FSV UK.

Student Ombudspeople are supported by the Social and Ethics Commission, the Academic Senate FSV UK, and work closely with the school management.

Who can become an ombudsperson?
All students of the given institute studying a Bachelor's, Master's or doctoral program can become a student ombudsperson. It is an elected position. The elections are organized by the student associations operating at the institutes. The full text of the Student Ombudsman Regulations can be found here.

How will ombudsmen be selected?
If you are interested in becoming a student ombudsperson, you can submit your application to the chairperson of the election commission of the individual student associations from 16 to 25 February 2026 (the members of the election commissions will be published on this page in the coming days). A sample application form can be found here. The elections of student ombudspeople will take place online from 3 to 4 March 2026 from 9:00 to 15:00.
