After Acceptance

After Acceptance

These are the things you should read up on right after you receive your acceptance email.

  • Conditional Acceptance

If you checked your online application, you have probably noticed that its status now says "Conditional acceptance".

You don't have to worry - you have definitely been accepted for the program! This is a formal status in the system and it's the case for all our newly accepted students, because we still have to perform the in-person assessment of your documents before the semester starts. This process is called "nostrification" and will be done during the enrolment for your first year in September, when you come to our office in person.

  • Check out our step-by-step guide

What happens between now and your enrollment? Our step-by-step guide will walk you through the things you need to remember, and what you can expect.

  • What communication can you expect from us?

During the next few months, we will space out several emails to give you all the information that you need before your arrival:

    • After your acceptance, we will send you the basic instructions for the initial tuition fee payment, information about the visa process and some useful links to learn more about things like accommodation. You can also join our Whatsapp community to start connecting with your future classmates.
    • Soon after the tuition fee payment, you can expect the Welcome package to arrive. The students that will be applying for a visa will receive the acceptance letter and accommodation contract, via post. Non-visa students will receive these in an email.
    • Over the summer, we will share more information on student services provided by the Faculty, preparation tips, etc.
    • As September approaches, you will be sent instructions on the enrollment process and what to do when you come to Prague.

During this time, you can also expect to be contacted by the representatives of your program, who will give you more information about your upcoming study!

  • Get your visa

We know that the visa process can sometimes be confusing and lengthy. Our guide will help you make sure you don’t forget anything and can be as prepared as possible for the visa journey. Get started as soon as you can!

  • Familiarize yourself with our tuition fees and scholarships

The annual tuition fee is generally split in two installments, one per semester. You will be asked to pay the first semester installment before the academic year starts - the invoice will be sent to you shortly after you are accepted. Afterwards, you will always receive the next invoice after the start of the respective semester. It is usually due in about a month.

Read more about the tuition fees and possible discounts or scholarship options here.

Tuition fee reductions for excellent admission results are awarded during evaluation, so if you were given one, it should already be included in your acceptance email. It is not possible to apply for it later.

  • Secure your accommodation

Secure your accommodation in Prague before your arrival. You can either choose to stay in a private accommodation, or you can opt for the Charles University dormitories

    - If you are a VISA-SEEKING student, we will have an accommodation contract for the dormitories issued automatically, for you to use in your visa application - no need to request it
    - If you are a NON-VISA student and would like to stay at the dorms, please contact us at degreeprograms@fsv.cuni.cz to request a reservation.

If you do choose the dormitories, make sure you have paid the deposit before you set off for Prague! Unpaid reservations are automatically cancelled. In case your arrival gets delayed, don’t forget to inform the dorms! They will keep your reservation, if you inform them in advance.

We have compiled the info on accommodation, including what to expect from the check-in, here.

  • Get ready for the nostrification

The last step of your enrollment in September will be an in person meeting with the International degree programs office to finish off the paperwork and present your previous education documents for assessment. This process is called “nostrification” and its purpose is to confirm the authenticity of your previous education. Czech law requires that this is done for all students before they are allowed to officially enroll.

Are you unsure which documents to present and what they need to include? Do the translations, Apostilles and notarizations confuse you? Follow our guide to get it right!

Note: You do NOT need to mail us your documents right now; just make sure to have them ready by September. This process is free of charge.
