Fulbright

Fulbright scholarships offered by the Fulbright Commission support study and research stays in the United States. They are intended for students who have completed their Bachelor's degree and wish to pursue Master's- or Ph.D.-level study or research in the United States.

The stay can take one of the following forms:

1. Research stay (visiting research student) – for conducting an independent research project, such as work related to a dissertation.
2. Full degree study (degree student) – leading to a degree at a U.S. university. The scholarship covers the first year of study only.
3. Study stay (non-degree student) – a study programme that does not lead to a degree.

There are two application deadlines: 1 September for degree study programmes only and 1 February for research projects. Applicants are required to arrange an appropriate invitation letter from a U.S. institution. Applicants must have completed their Bachelor's degree by the application deadline and demonstrate a good command of English.

The scholarship is awarded for one academic year (4–9 months) and covers:

1. Living expenses in the form of a monthly stipend, depending on the average cost of living in the given location.
2. A contribution towards a round-trip flight ticket.
3. Basic health insurance arranged as part of the programme. If the host university requires additional or separate insurance, the scholarship holder must cover the cost from their own funds.
4. Tuition fees of up to USD 15,000, applicable only to students in the “degree” category. If tuition fees exceed this amount, the student must secure additional funding. Students must also obtain funding from other sources for any subsequent years of study.
