During Your Study
During Your Study
This information can come in handy during your entire study.
-
Course transfer
Transferring courses and credits from your previous or exchange study is definitely possible, as long as they are similar in content with your current program’s curriculum. Here is a step by step guide on how to proceed.
-
Requests and other forms
If you need to submit a formal request, please use the prepared templates here.
These will be useful to you for requesting changes in your enrollment to courses (adding or dropping a course outside of the registration period), transferring credits, interrupting or terminating your study or any other general requests.
The form will guide you in regards to which signatures you will need to obtain before the submission. Most forms have to be signed by the program supervisor, and sometimes the course teacher. After the form is signed by all personnel, please submit it to the International office.
Once we check the formal aspects, we will present the request to the Vice-Dean for Study for approval. As soon as the request is approved, we will carry out the requested action.
-
Obtain student confirmation
During your study, many different institutions may ask you for a confirmation of your student status. We are happy to issue it for you in Czech or English language. Modifications can be made to the text depending on your needs.
If a scanned copy is sufficient, please email us at degreeprograms@fsv.cuni.cz and specify the language.
If you need a wet ink paper copy, please come to our office No. 217 at the Hollar building during office hours.
-
Renew your dormitory contract
The accommodation contracts are always issued for a maximum of one year. If you want to live at the dormitory during the next academic year, you will need to request a new contract. The accommodation office opens this possibility every year during May - please be careful not to miss it, as the capacity might get full.
More information is here.
-
Renew your visa
Since your visa is likely issued for one year, you will have to renew your visa at least once during your study. You can find more information on the renewals here.
Note: Please remember to apply before your current visa/permit expires! If it does, you will have to reapply from the beginning in your country of origin.
-
Get your transcript of records
If you need your transcript of records for any reason, please contact the International Degree Programs Office at degreeprograms@fsv.cuni.cz.
Only the completed courses with results in SIS show up in the transcript, including all transfered courses. The failed courses will not show up.
-
Calculate your GPA
You can find your GPA along with the total number of credits in your SIS.
After logging in, go to "Summary of exam results". Make sure to check all the academic years of your study in the filter. At the bottom of the page in grey, you will see the total amound of your credits as well as the total average.
The GPA is calculated on a scale of 1.0 to 4.0 where 1.0 is the best possible result.
All exam results are counted towards the GPA based on this transition table from 1-4 Grades to ECTS Grades.
Czech Grade ECTS Grade 1 - Excellent (excellent performance) A/B 2 - Very Good (above the average standard but with some errors) C/D 3 - Good (generally sound work with a number of notable errors) E 4 - Fail (unsatisfactory performance) F Courses transfered from your previous study are not counted in your GPA. However, grades obtained at an exchange stay are counted.
