Our textbook of Czech for foreigners „Můj semestr v Česku“ is designed primarily for higher education students whose level of Czech is A1/A2. It consists of 14 topic-based units which include learning videos and listening sections reflecting the life of a foreign student who comes to study in Prague for one term. While watching those videos, students encounter a number of real-life situations, which would not be possible to deliver in a class otherwise. The videos help students to master language structures and communication strategies, understand sociocultural context and to some extent also social rules, conventions and norms. They also help to practice spoken forms of Czech and language structures. 

Our aim is to provide a language textbook which will be highly authentic in all possible aspects, not only in terms of language proficiency, but also in terms of the displayed situations (individual unit topics), which our main character encounters. We do believe that mainly thanks to our main character with whom our readers can easily identify and content of the textbook students will be motivated and inspired to learn in an enjoyable way.

Učebnice češtiny jako cizího jazyka „Můj semestr v Česku“ je určena primárně vysokoškolským studentům na úrovni A1/A2. Obsahuje 14 tematických celků, jejichž součástí jsou i výuková videa a poslechy, ve kterých se odráží život zahraničního studenta, který přijíždí studovat na jeden semestr do Prahy. Díky videím se studenti seznámí s množstvím reálných situací, které by nebylo možné ve třídě nasimulovat. Videa přinášejí studentům poznávání jazykových struktur a komunikačních strategií, sociokulturního kontextu a v omezené míře i společenských pravidel, konvencí a norem, a slouží k nácviku produkce mluvených projevů a jazykových struktur.

Naším cílem bylo vytvořit jazykový materiál, který bude po všech stránkách co nejautentičtější – a to jak na úrovni jazyka, tak i zobrazovaných situací (témat lekcí), které hlavní postava prožívá. Věříme, že právě díky hlavní postavě, s níž se budou moci studenti snadno ztotožnit, i díky obsahu učebnice a její formě přinese tento výukový materiál studentům nejen motivaci a inspiraci, ale i zábavnou formu, jak si osvojit nové znalosti.
