Webhosting

The IT department offers webhosting with a fourth-level domain (e.g. domain.fsv.cuni.cz) for employees of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, for the needs of grants, long-term projects, blogs, conferences.

To set up web hosting, you need to fill out this form and send the signed scan to the address webhosting@fsv.cuni.cz. In the form, specify which option you are interested in and describe the planned use of the website. After the application is approved, technicians from the IT department will contact you and implement the assignment with you.

Webhosting can be operated in three variants:

1. on the rectorate platform Document Globe "DG"
2. in the Wordpress editorial system - the appearance offered by the faculty
3. your own solution running on the components listed in the relevant webhosting application

The request is addressed in advance at least 60 days before the date of the requested launch of the website. You will receive an acknowledgment within 15 days.

For sites operated by the faculty or the rectorate Document Globe, the guarantors guarantee the integrity of the content in accordance with the terms and conditions of the webhosting services that are part of the application form.

For sites running on your own solution, the guarantors are also required to respond to requirements regarding the security of their operation, e.g., used components such as databases or PHP. They are also obliged to observe basic graphic rules such as the sharpness of images, the size of logos, etc., as well as the uniform visual style of Charles University and the design guide of the faculty - it is also ideal to observe the color scheme of the institute under which the project falls. FSV UK has the authority to suspend or terminate the activity of websites that do not meet the specified requirements, or whose guarantors do not respond to calls to bring them into compliance with these requirements. The suspension or termination of the website is processed in connection with the Dean's provision.

The website can also be operated outside the faculty servers, i.e. without IT support, in the following way:

1. by an external webhost using the faculty domain in the form "domena.fsv.cuni.cz", the use of which is decided by the Head of IT on the basis of a written request after approval by the Faculty secretary. After the application is approved, the requested domain will be made available to the guarantor within one working week and its redirection to the server of the external provider specified by the guarantor will be set.
2. external web hosting on any domain set up by the guarantor, e.g. in the form "domain.cz", "domain.com", "domain.eu", etc.
