The Faculty of Social Sciences boasts a successful presence in the Fulbright Scholarship programme for 2019/2020. Two scientists gained the prestigious Fulbright-Masaryk Scholarship:

Doc. Mgr. MgA. Filip Lab, Ph.D. from the ICSJ Department of Journalism received a 6-month scholarship for the academic research at the University of Oregon. He has succeeded with the project “Challenges in Photojournalism, Journalism and Photojournalism Ethics, Solutions (Photo) Journalism” in a strong competition with other applicants.

Prof. PhDr. Michal Smetana, Ph.D. from IPS Centre for Security Policy  received a 6-month scholarship for the research at Stanford University. In a significant competition with others, he succeeded in the “Moral Framing project of International Security: An Experimental Approach”.

Fulbright-Masaryk's scholarship is a unique programme aimed at supporting outstanding scientists, lecturers and students who are actively involved in public life on the basis of long-term voluntary activities. This way, the Fulbright Commission seeks to contribute to the creation of a confident civil society with an emphasis on promoting the democratic principles of its functioning.

The J. William Fulbright Commission was founded in 1991 under an intergovernmental agreement between the Czech Republic and the United States to promote educational, scientific and cultural exchanges. The Commission manages the Czech-American government scholarship programme and provides information and guidance services for those interested in studying in the USA.
