Important note for visa-seeking students: Please read about the visa process carefully before applying. You are responsible for organizing your legal stay in Czechia and the visa application process can get quite lengthy. The extended deadlines are therefore strongly recommended to students who already possess the legal right to long-term stay in Czechia.

Professor Marek Nekula received an honorary doctorate from Charles University
On Wednesday 22 September 2021, the awarding of honorary doctorates of Charles University took place in the Karolinum Auditorium.

Update of COVID-19 measures
Charles University has issued measures regarding testing, wearing respirators, arriving from abroad and attending exams, educational events and academic ceremonies. The measures also concern the operation of the dormitories. The University and the Faculty will keep the students informed of any updates. -
New insurance policy for foreigners!
From August 2, 2021, the amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals is effective, bringing a new insurance policy: obligation to take out travel medical insurance covering comprehensive health care with Pojišťovna VZP. Read more about the conditions of this new obligation. -

Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO) will be located at the Faculty of Social Sciences
Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO) project, which succeeded in an all-European contest, will be located at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Prague and it will be led by experts from Charles University and Czech Technical University. -
Petr Soukup appointed the ISS director
PhDr. Ing. Petr Soukup, Ph.D. was chosen in the selection procedure for the director of the Institute of Sociological Studies FSV UK. The newly appointed director will assume the office on 1 June 2021.
