Registration for the first year

1. The online pre-registration will be possible from September 3rd.

2. You have to submit an online request for pre-registration through your online application. Download this document, fill in the Enrolment form, print it, and sign it. Scan it (a legible photo is also acceptable) and attach the scan as a single attachment to the official request. Fill in the short reasoning and submit the request. You can find the manual for online pre-registration here. 
   Note: Make sure to choose "Application for Distance Registration", NOT "Other application".

3. The above-mentioned document also contains the Matriculation Oath and Information on Occupational Safety and Fire Protection. Please, read them carefully. By signing the Enrolment Form, you confirm that you have read these documents and agree with them. (We only need you to scan and submit the Enrolment Form and the Matriculation Oath - you do not need to also submit the Safety Instructions)

4. Please note that the assessment of your request can take several days as we have to verify multiple things. If there is any issue with your request, we will contact you via email. In specific cases, we have the right to deny online pre-registration and require mandatory in-person registration.

Why is this important? This is how you become an enrolled student and let us know that you truly want to study the program! It also gives you access to the course registration.

1. After the approval of your request, we will send you a confirmation of the approval in your email.

2. In this email, you will find your Student ID - an 8-digit number that you should save. This will be your login for SIS going forward.

3. With this login, you will need to verify your account using either your State verified citizen identity or your biometric passport/ID according to this manual. This will give you full access to all SIS modules and CUNI services.

4. On September 15th, the registration for courses will start and you will be able to pick your schedule. See the manual on how to do it here. 

Why is this important? You will need SIS throughout your entire studies - to enroll in course, register for your exams, see your exam results, GPA, etc!
Note: If you do not have a biometric ID nor a State verified citizen identity, you will be able to verify your account later in-person while picking up your Student ID card. (See step 6!) 

1. After the successful online registration, you can book an in-person appointment with us to finish the necessary paperwork.

2. The in-person appointment will be possible from September 7th 2026 until September 30th.

3. You can book the appointment via the reservation system accessible in your online application. You can see the manual here.

4. When booking your appointment, please consider the date of your arrival in Czechia. 

Why is this important? A large number of students will be coming for the in-person registration throughout September. Having an appointment will help avoid queues and we will be able to prepare all your documents in advance.

1. Come on the scheduled date and time to our office at the Hollar building, Smetanovo nábřeží 6, Prague 1.

2. Bring the original or the notarized hard copy of your diploma and transcript of records with you for nostrification. See the form the documents should have in order for us to approve them here. The forms of authorization of documents are listed here.

Why is this important? This is the finalization of your registration for study. Without this step, we cannot let your start your classes. After this meeting, you will be a fully enrolled student!

1. Once you are an enrolled student, you will be able to obtain the Student ID card or its ISIC counterpart.

2. See this website for more information on the card, its advantages and where to obtain it. 

Why is this important? You will need your card for access to buildings, library loans, dormitory access, and many other things. It will also allow you to use student discounts!

Note: While apps are available, you also need to keep the physical card with you, because the app cannot grant your access to the faculty buildings and many FSV UK services.

The general orientation meeting for all the newly accepted students will take place on Tuesday September 22nd at 9:00 at the Jinonice campus. Here, we will tell you more about general life in Czechia, getting familiar with Prague and the initial basic necessary for you to land on your feet. 

Apart from this meeting, students will also have a program specific meeting with the program coordinators and directors - see details below. 

I'M GOING TO BE LATE DUE TO VISA ISSUES

1. Get in touch with us at admissions@fsv.cuni.cz - we will help you assess your situation and help you decide on a realistic plan for the beginning of the semester.
2. Proceed with the online pre-registration (step 1) anyway, as well as the SIS account verification (step 3).

3. If you already know you will arrive in Czechia later than in October, please send us your documents for nostrification (diploma and transcript) via post to the address Marcela Vrbatová, International Office, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Smetanovo nabr. 6, 11000 Prague 1, Czechia. 

    

I ARRIVED AFTER SEPTEMBER AND THERE ARE NO MORE IN-PERSON APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE
If there are no possible in-person appointment dates in the online system anymore, please make your appointment with us directly via email at degreeprograms@fsv.cuni.cz.

I DON'T HAVE A BIOMETRIC PASSPORT OR VERIFIED CITIZEN IDENTITY
You will be able to verify your account in person when you arrive in Prague while collecting your student ID card at the Card center. 
Don't worry - you will still be able to register for classes with your unverified password. 

THE CLASSES I WANT IN SIS ARE FULL

1. Join the Waitlist. Very often, registered students end up dropping out of the class and you will get in. 
2. Contact the teacher. You must be allowed to take the classes that are mandatory to you. With the electives, many teachers are willing to increase the capacity for committed, interested students, as long as the size of the room allows it. 
    

I CAN'T MAKE IT FOR THE ORIENTATION MEETINGS

If possible, we do recommend trying to participate in them in person. We will be sharing the slides and brochures from the general orientation meeting with all enrolled students. 
The program orientation meetings will mostly be taking place in both in-person and online modes, so please contact your coordinator to help you attend online.
