Within the celebration of the centenary of Czech-American diplomatic relations, the Faculty of Social Sciences together with the U.S. Embassy organized a meeting and discussion with Mark Green, Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The meeting was also attended by United States Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Stephen B. King.
The discussion "International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid - The role of USAID and the United States" took place on Friday, 19th October at historical Carolinum building.
Mark Green, an international development expert, was appointed USAID Director in 2017. Between 2007 and 2009, he served as U.S. Ambassador in Tanzania. As a member of the Wisconsin State Congress, he helped to push the Millennium Challenge Act to reduce global poverty through sustainable economic development.
