REGISTRATION AT THE FOREIGN POLICE

REGISTRATION AT THE FOREIGN POLICE

All students staying in Prague for a period longer than 90 days are legally obliged to register at the Foreign Police Office. Students from EU/EFTA countries must register within 30 days after their arrival, students from third countries must do it within 3 days after their arrival.

Students who live at Charles University dormitories will be registered automatically by the dormitory accommodation office, so they do not need to register in person at the Foreign Police Office.

Students living in private housing will have to register with the Foreign Police themselves (unless, in special cases, the owner will do it for them). In case of moving to another flat, students must register again at the police and report their new address.

To register at the Foreign Police Office, a student will need the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Registration Card: available at the registration or it can be printed and filled out in advance
  • Health insurance valid for the Czech Republic (EHIC or private health insurance)
  • House rental (lease) agreement, possibly in Czech language

...…and a book/music/something to eat to kill time in case of queues :-)
