Assistant Professor with a focus on European Integration and Contemporary Western Europe at the Department of European Studies

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University announces a vacancy for the position of Assistant/Assistant Professor with a focus on European Integration and Contemporary Western Europe at the Department of European Studies, Institute of International Studies.

Job Description:

  • conducting lectures and seminars
  • own research activities
  • involvement in the scientific work of the IIS, including participation in the research centre
  • serving on examination committees
  • supervising students and assessing student work

Requirements:

  • university degree in any of the following fields: modern and contemporary history, territorial studies, political science, international relations, law, economics, anthropology, cultural studies, sociology
  • Ph.D. or M.A. degree (in the final stage of Ph.D. studies with completion within three years)
  • experience in project and grant work
  • excellent knowledge of English and other languages of the Western European area, both spoken and written
  • knowledge of Czech language an advantage

 

We offer:

  • working time of 0,5 - 1,0 (20 to 40 hours per week)
  • expected to start on a fixed-term contract from October, 1st, 2024 to August, 31st, 2027
  • salary approx. CZK 17.000 (part-time) gross salary/month
  • salary approx. CZK 34.000 (full-time) gross salary/month
  • system of performance rewards for publishing activities and the possibility of involvement in other projects
  • possibility of submitting national and international projects with financial rewards beyond basic salary
