The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University announces a vacancy for an Academic Assistant at the Department of Journalism of the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism.

Job Description:

• pedagogical activity in study program Journalism at bachelor’s and master’s levels in Czech and English language, with focus on Media Ethics, New Media and AI (the focus on qualitative methods or previous experience in Journalism is an advantage)
• creative application of the results of scientific research in the pedagogical activities of the Department
• own scientific research activity and grant applications submission
• preparation of expert reports on national and international level
• administrative activities at the Department and cooperation on joint projects
• supervision of students and assessment of student theses

We require:

• university degree with Ph.D. or a demonstrably advanced phase of doctoral studies to be completed by the end of the half year 2025
• pedagogical and scientific experience
• relevant publication and creative activity (publications in Q1 and Q2 WoS journals according to IF welcome)
• experience with grant applications
• Czech language at native speaker level
• excellent command of the English language in both spoken and written form
• be able to teach in English and Czech

• workload of 1,0 (40 hours per week)
• expected start on August, 1st, 2024 (or September, 1st, 2024)

• in case of PhD students, we require a recommendation and guarantee from their supervisor that completion of their study is realistic by the end of the half year 2025 and that their professional activity is at the required level for the position
