Statement of the FSV UK student ombuds(wo)men on the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia
We bring you the statement of the FSV UK institutes’ ombudswomen and ombudsman on the occasion of the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia:
On the occasion of the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we, as the ombudswomen and ombudsman of the institutes of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, express our full support to all students, lecturers and employees who identify themselves as sexual minorities. We consider it crucial to emphasize that equal chances and opportunities belong to everyone, regardless of who they are and who they love. We all noted with concern not only the terrorist attack in Bratislava in October last year, but also other homophobic and transphobic violence incited by irresponsible politicians. We believe that no one should be excluded from society just because of who they were born and who they feel they are. As persons acting in roles that provide long-term support and empathy to students and staff in the academic community, we feel it is our duty to continue to strive for a safe and open environment for all. At the same time, we welcome and support any activities that contribute to its development.
