Online workshop "Organizing for the Future: Accountability in the Public and Private Sector"

Join us for an online workshop on “Organizing for the Future: Accountability in the Public and Private Sector”, which will feature two speakers: Prof. Jan Bebbington and Prof. Nicole Darnall.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers working on sustainability-related issues in different organizational sectorsThis is the first of a series of three workshops supported by a joint seed funding scheme between the University of St Andrews and Charles University.

About the speakers:

Jan Bebbington, The Rubin Chair in Sustainability in Business, Director of the Pentland Centre, Lancaster University

Professor Bebbington focuses on research that emerges at the intersection of sustainable development concerns and organisational operations. As an accounting scholar she focuses on the use of accounting technologies to create organisational control as well as reporting activities that might discharge accountability relationships. Her work includes a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals; how reporting norms emerge and carbon accounting/accountability.

Nicole Darnall, Professor of Sustainability, Arizona State University

Professor Darnall is Foundation Professor of Sustainability and Founding Director of ASU’s Sustainable Purchasing Research Initiative. She is a Commissioner in the U.S. General Service Administration's Acquisition Policy Federal Advisory Committee and Chair of the Acquisition Workforce Sub-committee, which offers recommendations about how the agency should embed sustainability considerations into Federal acquisition. Her research assesses the factors that encourage organizations and individuals to behave more sustainably, especially related to sustainable purchasing.
