Courses of Visiting Professors from Germany

The Department of German and Austrian Studies (IIS FSV UK) invites all students of Bachelor's and Master's programmes to attend the block seminars of visiting professors from Germany:

  • Prof. Dr. Günter Wollstein (Cologne): „Auferstanden aus Ruinen“. Spielfilme ebnen nach 1945 den Weg zu Frieden und Demokratie („Arising from the Ruins”. The Movies Open the Door to Peace and Democracy after 1945)
  • Prof. Dr. Volker Zimmermann (Munich): Deutsche und Tschechen – nahe und ferne Nachbarn (Germans and Czechs. Close and Distant Neighbours)

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Boris Barth stays at our Department in the role of the long-term guest professor and offers two interesting seminars to the history of Germany in the 20th century:

  • Demokratie in Deutschland im 20. Jahrhundert (Democracy in Germany in the 20th Century)
  • Deutsche Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte im 20. Jahrhundert (Economic and Social History of 20th Century Germany)

All courses are taught in German. The German professors can come to Prague thanks to the cooperation with the University of Düsseldorf and the funding of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) since 1994.
