Adam Geršl has been appointed new director of the Institute of Economic studies

We would like to announce that the winner of the selection procedure for the new director of the Institute of Economic Studies, which took place on November 6, 2023, is associate professor doc. PhDr. Adam Geršl Ph.D.

The decision of the  Selection Committee was approved and confirmed by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, PhDr. JUDr. Tomáš Karásek, Ph.D.. Adam Geršl has been appointed for a full four-year term, starting January 1, 2024.

Associate Professor Adam Geršl received his PhD in Economics at the Charles University in 2006. He has extensive professional experience from the European Central Bank, the Czech National Bank and Joint Vienna Institute, and has also completed several long-term study and research stays at leading European institutions. He is currently a director of the Master's degree programs at the Institute of Economic studies. 

In his new function, he would like to further develop the IES as a leading economic centre of an international character, which emphasizes both the quality of teaching and preparation of its students for demanding analytical positions in business or institutions, as well as prestigious academic research. At the same time, the new director of IES wants to help to increase its international visibility and attract more talented students from both the Czech Republic and abroad.
