Prague, November 13, 2024 - Supply Chain Resilience Center (SCRC) successfully hosted an insightful seminar addressing the expanding role of the semiconductor industry within the Czech economy. Held at the historic premises of Charles University in Prague, the event attracted industry leaders, government representatives, and academic experts, fostering productive discussions on the sector's potential for economic growth and the challenges it faces.

The seminar commenced with opening remarks from Dr. David Emler, Director of SCRC at Charles University. Dr. Emler presented the activities of the center to the audience and highlighted the significance of bolstering semiconductor supply chain and enhancing the Czech Republic’s position in the global semiconductor landscape.

The keynote speech was given by Petr Očko, Director General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, who emphasized that the project will help build a bridge between the academic and private spheres. He wished the project every success.

Professor Jiří Blažek, an expert in economic geography at SCRC, presented a detailed analysis of the strategic challenges in creating a supportive policy framework for semiconductor production and innovation. His insights underscored the need for targeted investment and collaboration between academia, industry, and government.

Following the presentations, an engaging panel discussion allowed participants to delve into the practicalities of implementing a robust strategy for the Czech semiconductor industry, exploring topics from workforce development to international partnerships. The seminar concluded with a networking session, where attendees connected and exchanged ideas.
