FSV UK Library in the exam period and changes from the summer semester
During the exam period, the library is open as usual. It is also possible to use the study rooms in Jinonice, Hollar and Opletalova. You can find the current opening hours on the library website. Starting from the summer semester, i.e. from 16 February 2026, the library in Jinonice will be open from 8:00 am. -
PhD Speed Friending
Come and join us for an informal meetup of female PhD students in social sciences and humanities! The event takes place on 26 February 2026 from 4:45 to 6:00 pm in Cirkulární HUB A.0 in Kampus Hybernská. Registration is required. -
Assoc. Prof. Michal Smetana from FSV UK received the Neuron Award for Young Promising Scientists 2025
The committee appreciated how he innovatively connects the fields of international relations, security studies and political psychology, to which he has even brought experimental methods from the natural sciences. "It is a great joy and a huge award not only for me, but for our entire research team. We have a very ambitious research agenda planned for this year, so it is also a great encouragement for further work," says Assoc. Prof. Smetana about the award. -
Apply for student grants for the summer semester 2026
The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, announces the deadline for submitting applications for student grants for the summer semester of 2026. The deadline for applications is 11th of February at 23:59. The actual presentation will take place on 18th of February at 17:00. -
Registration to Tandem Languages course is now open
Practice a foreign langugage with your peers! Register to the one-semester course Tandem Langugages JLB 116, in which students of two different languages work with each other and help each other achieve a specific language goal. Registrations are now open! -
The CU Rector appointed Tomáš Karásek to the position of FSV UK Dean
Tomáš Karásek was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University on 13 January 2026 at a meeting of the FSV UK Academic Senate. The appointment decree was presented to him by Charles University Rector Milena Králíčková. He was elected to head the faculty for the term of office 2026–2030, which will begin on 1 February 2026.
