Scholarship programme Barrande Fellowship 2027
The French Institute in Prague and the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT) are happy to announce the launch of the Barrande Fellowship Programme 2027, the mobility programme for Ph.D. students between the Czech Republic and France. The application deadline is Friday January 29th 2027, at midnight. -
CFA Oszkár Sárkány Fellowship 2026/2027
Central European University Institute for Advances Studies & the French National Centre for Scientific Research in Humanities and Social Sciences in partnership with the French Research Center in Humanities and Social Sciences offer mobility grants to Budapest for CNRS SHS fellows, and France for CEU IAS fellows. Deadline for submission is January 15, 2027. -

The Rector of Charles University announces an extraordinary Rector's Day for Tuesday, November 10, 2026. All teaching at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, will be cancelled from 12:00 pm on this day; there will be no lectures, seminars or practical teaching. -
Statement by the leadership of the Faculty of Social Sciences CU on the financing of public service media
The FSV UK leadership supports the statement of the Charles University leadership on the financing of public service media. Public service media are such an important part of the functioning of the democratic system that any changes in their regulation require a transparent procedure, open expert discussion and careful assessment of their impacts. As an educational and research institution, we consider it our responsibility to contribute to the debate about their future, primarily through expert knowledge and factual arguments. -
Science at FSV UK: New study maps online hate speech in Czechia and reveals shared narratives targeting minorities
Hate speech targeting Roma, migrants, Muslims, Jewish communities, and LGBTQ+ people in Czechia often follows similar patterns, drawing on stereotypes, perceived cultural threats, and conspiracy theories. A new research report examines 2,500 social media posts to explore how hateful narratives emerge, overlap, and reinforce one another in the Czech online environment. The publication was prepared by a team of twelve bachelor’s and master’s students and edited by Jonathan Collins. -
Science Communication 360°: Introducing the conference report from our second edition and revealing the theme of the next conference
We are delighted to present the conference report of the second edition of the Science Communication 360° conference, which we organise at FSV UK in collaboration with the Czech Academy of Sciences and the SciComHub platform. We are also pleased to announce the date of the next edition. The conference will take place on Thursday, February 4, 2027, at the Jinonice Campus. The third edition will explore the theme The Future of Attention.
