  • Science at FSV UK: When science meets foreign policy. Mitchell Young on the growing role of science diplomacy

    Science is increasingly intertwined with some of today’s most pressing geopolitical challenges. This is where science diplomacy comes in. In an interview, academic Mitchell Young explains how the field is changing in an increasingly fractured geopolitical environment and why Europe is seeking a more coordinated approach. He also introduces a new European project that aims to map the continent’s science diplomacy landscape and strengthen cooperation between scientists, diplomats and policymakers.
  • Workshops for students from the Language Centre

    In the winter semester, the Language Centre is offering two new two-day workshops as part of the Skills series: Inclusive Dialogue Skills (JLB129) and Writing Skills: Preserving Your Scholarly Voice in the World of AI (JLB130). The workshops are open to all students at the faculty. More information can be found in SIS.
  • Applications for LERU Doctoral Summer School are now open

    PhD students can now apply for the 16th edition of the LERU Doctoral Summer School, hosted by Lund University from 13 – 18 June 2027. Deadline for applications: 11 January 2027. The Rector’s Board will then select one participant to represent Charles University at the summer school.
  • Registration to Tandem Languages course is now open!

    Practice a foreign langugage with your peers! Register to the one-semester course Tandem Langugages JLB 115, in which students of two different languages work with each other and help each other achieve a specific language goal. Registrations are now open!
  • Offer of 4EU+ shared courses from Heidelberg University

    Heidelberg University has published its list of shared courses for the 2026/27 winter semester. You can find the current course list on the Student Portal. Registration is open until September 25, 2026.
  • Announcement of the FSV UK Academic Senate elections for the 2027–2029 term

    At its meeting on September 15, 2026, AS FSV UK announced—pursuant to Article 1 of the AS FSV UK Election Rules—that electronic elections for the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, for the 2027–2029 term would be held from November 24 to 26, 2026. AS FSV UK has set the period for submitting nominations for candidates to AS FSV UK from 9:00 a.m. on October 7, 2026, through 5:00 p.m. on November 13, 2026.
