Tutorial - Course search

How to search for courses?

Student Information System (SIS) It is a portal where you can search for the courses without having an account. Once you are registered as our student, you will enrol in the courses, to the exams here and it is a place where you can find your exam results.

To search for a particular course, go to "Subjects" and filter by the Faculty of Social Sciences, language "English" and by particular semester (winter/summer/both), Class - "Courses for Incoming students"

Please note we do not guarantee acceptance into all selected classes due to course capacity, scheduling clashes, or any unforeseen changes in class availability.

MAY I ENROLL FOR COURSES AT OTHER FACULTIES AT CHARLES UNIVERSITY THAN MY HOST FACULTY?

According to the rules of Charles University,

Erasmus students should take at least 51 % of their courses (or earn the same number of credits) at the Faculty where they were nominated to. The remaining courses can be chosen from other faculties of the university.

Every faculty may have different dates for the courses registration. Also check the availiblity of the courses for incoming students with the perspective faculty coordinator.

Erasmus+ ICM students should take at least 51 % of their courses (or earn the same number of credits) at the institute where they were nominated to.

HOW MANY CREDITS DO I NEED TO OBTAIN IN ORDER TO PASS THE SEMESTER?

Based on the requirements of your home university. If you don't know, please, check with your home university.

As for the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, we recommend exchange/visiting students minimum of 20 ECTS for bachelor level students, minimum of 15 ECTS for master level students.

The maximum we allow to register for is 30 ECTS per semester. Should you enquire more ECTS, please first talk to your IO coordinator at FSV UK.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE COURSES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER?

Changing classes is not a major problem, you will have enough time during the registration period (so-called add/drop period) to decide whether you like the class and whether you will be able to manage it.

*We are happy to sign a revised Learning Agreement for you, though please remember you must also talk to your home university to make sure they agree with any changes you make.

*not applicable for Freemover students

May I take a sport course as an Exchange student?

Yes, you may.

Nevertheless we allow Exchange students to be enrolled only in ONE sport course per semester

Sport courses are not offered by the FSV UK, please search at the Faculty of Arts.

Free spots are limited.

CAN I ENROLL IN MASTER LEVEL COURSES WHEN I AM ONLY A BACHELOR LEVEL STUDENT?

Exchange students can enroll in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses regardless of their academic level.

However, the list of the chosen subjects has to be selected carefully and approved by the student’s home university.

We strongly recommend reading the requirements of the course in order to be able to successfully finish the selected class.

You will have enough time during the registration period (the so-called add/drop period) to decide whether you like the class and whether you will be able to manage it.
